Cloud Accounting

A finance function that operates at the pace
and visibility the modern business demands

Cloud accounting has transformed what the finance function can be. But the promise of real-time visibility rarely delivers itself – most businesses that invest in cloud software end up with faster data entry and the same reporting limitations as before, because the architecture was never designed around how the business actually makes decisions.

The businesses making the most of it are not the ones with the newest software, but the ones that have rebuilt their decision-making around what real-time data makes possible.

We help businesses select, implement and operate an effective cloud accounting environment that meets the realities of their business.

We start with how the business is structured operationally and design the chart of accounts and reporting hierarchy around that structure rather than retro-fitting it to a template. The dimensions we work through include:

  • Entities and group structure
  • Locations and trading divisions
  • Revenue streams and product lines
  • Cost centres and departments
  • Project codes, where the business runs work that way

The platforms we work across, Xero, QuickBooks Online, Sage and the wider app ecosystem, are selected on fit, not preference.

Implementation as a structured project

Once the design is settled, implementation is run as a defined project with clear stages:

  • Data migration from your existing system
  • Integration of the surrounding stack — invoicing, expenses, payments, payroll, CRM, e-commerce
  • Bank feed configuration and reconciliation rules
  • User permissions and access controls
  • The reporting layer that sits on top

Crossover of services is planned to minimise disruption to live operations, with parallel running where the situation calls for it.

What you can expect from our cloud team

Three principles shape how we run a cloud accounting environment:

Architecture before software

The structure of the ledger, the reporting hierarchy and the surrounding integrations are designed before any system is configured. The technology serves the design, not the other way around.

Operational discipline as standard

Reconciliation, cut-off and exception handling are run to a defined rhythm. The numbers you see in your dashboards reflect the state of the business, not the residue of incomplete processing.

Reporting calibrated to your decisions

Dashboards and management views are built around the metrics that drive your business — margin by segment, project profitability, cash runway, customer cohort performance — not the ones the software offers by default.

Businesses choose to run their cloud finance function with us because they want the operational visibility cloud accounting promises, delivered with the reliability that turns a dashboard from a curiosity into a basis for decision.

Frequently Asked Questions faq

Which platform will you recommend for our business?

It depends on size, sector, complexity and the rest of your operating stack. We are platform-agnostic and have substantial implementation experience across the major providers. The recommendation comes after the architecture conversation, not before.

How do you handle migration from a legacy system?

As a project with a defined scope, timetable and cutover plan. Historical data is brought across to an agreed depth, opening balances are reconciled and the new environment is parallel-run where the business case warrants it. Most migrations we run complete within four to eight weeks from kick-off.

How does this work alongside our in-house finance team?

It works in whatever division of responsibility serves the business best. Some clients ask us to run the entire function; others retain a controller or finance director in-house and use us to operate the environment beneath them. The boundary is set deliberately at the start and reviewed as the business evolves.
